History
Since it was established in the 1960s, CBT has become one of the most well respected and well-known therapies, utilised worldwide. Having looked to Stoicism for inspiration, the founder of CBT is said to have referenced the ancient philosophy as the foundations of the treatment. Practically speaking cognitive behavioural therapy came about when psychologists began to merge two formerly separate approaches (cognitive therapy and behavioural therapy) when treating WWII veterans. The results of this merge spoke for itself, and the successful treatment continues today.
